When I left you yesterday I was scheduled for a liver biopsy today along with the photopheresis today. Later that afternoon they canceled the photopheresis in favor of the biopsy. They gave me the blood and platelets last night but this morning the lab shown a platelet count of only 27. The biopsy needs 70, they'll take 50. Photopheresis wants 50 but they will take 30. The billy-ribbon count from the liver was better this morning so the team decided to put off the biopsy and go back to the photopheresis. Good news plus I got back on the GVHD1 diet, full version, not just Dr.S's very clear version.
It became apparent after a while that the platelet count would not be in the required range until late in the afternoon so the photopheresis got pushed back till tomorrow morning. No reschedule yet on the liver biopsy as yet. I think it depends the next lab report. So the only real event of the day was that I go my first cup of coffee in about six weeks. It was decaf but tasted great anyway. I love coffee. My maternal grandmother got me started when I was four years old. Taught me to saucer it a blow it. For those of mot from around here that means to pour coffee into the saucer and blow on it to cool it off. Then you drink it from the saucer. Pinky out for culture is optional.
Boone
My journey through Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia. Or "How to Cure Psoriasis the Hard Way."
This is Pauline, Boone's wife. Every year on or near his birthday, he has his annual physical. His doctor told him that he had "Immature blood cells" and referred him to a hemotologist. To Boone's great surprise when he arrived for the appointment, the hemotologist was an oncologist. They drew blood and the Oncologist, Dr. K, wanted to know why I was not with him. Next visit he said, I better be there. A month later, we went to the appointment. Blood was drawn. Dr. K. said it could be a couple of things, and ordered a bone marrow biopsy. On the 3rd month, we heard the diagnosis of CMML.

Hi Boone, we've been out of town for a day or two so now that I've caught up, sounds like things are improving with the ability to eat. Are they able yet to say if the photopheresis is a success?
Cute about your coffee in a saucer. I have a little 2-year-old grandson and love him so much. my husband David was very fond of his grandmother, too-- she was very special in his life. Yay grandmas.
If I follow this correctly, this sounds like good news. So glad you got to enjoy, not just drink, a cup of coffee. The coffee in the saucer, what a great memory.
Donor Girl
Liver biopsy. Been there done that. Be glad they are watching your platelets. Procedure itself is not bad at all. You should get some relaxation meds.

Thinking of you on this 4th. I hope you can see a flag from your room.
