This is Pauline, Boone's wife. Every year on or near his birthday, he has his annual physical. His doctor told him that he had "Immature blood cells" and referred him to a hemotologist. To Boone's great surprise when he arrived for the appointment, the hemotologist was an oncologist. They drew blood and the Oncologist, Dr. K, wanted to know why I was not with him. Next visit he said, I better be there. A month later, we went to the appointment. Blood was drawn. Dr. K. said it could be a couple of things, and ordered a bone marrow biopsy. On the 3rd month, we heard the diagnosis of CMML.

NOTHING NEW

Another pretty slow day. I woke up about 5AM for blood work and wound up staying up for a couple of hours. Thus I was still lying in bed when Dr. S came by on rounds.  Nothing new.  We are both doing everything we can do but I'm still in bad shape.  But he has seen people worse off than me get better.  From my point if view I have no choice, exercise and attitude.  I confess that I'm not doing so well on either count lately but I did get one lap in today and I'm doing more with the rubber bands.
Not doing as well on the staying positive front.  I'm still hopeful about the photopheresis. Had a treatment this afternoon and another scheduled Wednesday afternoon.  If its going to work it should be showing up soon but so far that hasn't happened. If this doesn't work then I not sure what we try next.  But we'll try something, no point in giving up.

I know it must be really hard to stay positive but keep it up I think it is some of the best medicine. I will try to come by with pictures from trip this week.

hey, dboonie...dropped off a package for you this morning and left it in your chair. You were sleeping so didn't want to wake you.

Keep fighting. I appreciate your honest words.
Do you ever listen to Radiohead?

I'm sure it's hard to say upbeat, but it is a good Med.

Walk those laps... We all want these bad days to improve.
Laps and smiles will help.

Wish I had something funny to say... just think of the stupid things I do, that usually gets you smiling.

Hey Boone. You don't know me but I'm a friend of Harold's. I think you and I met about 20 years ago at some gathering. Harold just turned me on to your blog and I'm anxious to follow you.

I want you to know how much I care for you and Harold. I've seen many loved ones through cancer so I'm not unfamiliar with your situation, yet each illness is so individualistic. I can also only imagine your emotions and your resolve. Just know you're loved even by people you barely know. We want you to live.

Yo man. A very late night at office. Pushing the deadlines you know. Keep walking and getting out of the bed man. Has to be hard but I know you can do it. Fight hard. After all of this there is a bar in Denver we should go visit.
